Hello Superstars!

My name is Dr. Jennifer Stephens, and I am the proud principal of Daniel Ortega Elementary. A little about me, I have worked in education for more than 20 years, most of those years were right here in Austin ISD. During that time, I have served as an elementary school teacher, a bilingual instructional specialist, an assistant principal, and currently as a principal. For more than 10 years, I have been serving the Ortega community. I am a graduate of Southwest Texas State University, Texas State University, and most recently, the University of Texas at Austin, where I received my doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy. I have one son who is my pride and joy and the light of my life! Anytime you’d like to start a conversation, feel free to ask me about him. His antics always keep me smiling! In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running around Lady Bird Lake, and traveling to new places. The position I have today, as the principal of Ortega, is truly an honor. Working with students, staff, and families is a blessing. In the spirit of servant leadership, I am committed to our school community and will continue to work steadfastly, so that our students can fulfill their potential, realize their aspirations, and achieve their dreams.
