Ortega Attendance Policies
Families are now required to provide medical documentation in order to excuse any student absence for medical reasons that requires a student to miss more than one day of school.
- If a student is required to miss more than one day of school due to medical reasons, a note from a doctor/physician must be given to the office within 2 days of the students return or the absence will not be excused.
- If, for medical reasons, a student is required to miss ONE day of school only, a note from the parent/guardian explaining the reason for the absence will be accepted and excused. This note must also be given to the office within 2 days of the students return or the absence will not be excused.
- If a student is identified as having excessive unexcused absences or tardies, meaning 5 or more of either, parents will be required to attend a mandatory “Attendance Matters” meeting at Ortega to obtain more information about the importance of regular attendance.
OUR GOAL AT ORTEGA IS TO HAVE EVERY STUDENT IN SCHOOL AND ON TIME EVERY DAY
EXCEPT WHEN ILLNESS OR EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES PREVENT THIS.
